A primary school is celebrating its commitment to health and wellbeing after securing a top award.

Wells Hall Primary School in Great Cornard is believed to be the first in Suffolk to achieve a gold health and wellbeing excellence award, given out by OneLife Suffolk.

It was achieved after the organisation spent time working with all year groups at the village school running workshops and promoting healthy living.

A new Ipswich school that will provide 60 places for young students with social, emotional and mental health needs is to be named after Sir Bobby Robson.

The Unity Schools Partnership, who will run the new school in Lindbergh Road, launched a naming consultation with community leaders and local parents throughout March and April.

Staff and students at Churchill Academy in Haverhill are celebrating after being awarded Autism Accreditation by The National Autistic Society.

The award is the result of three year’s hard work at the school and is given in recognition of the school’s good autism practice.

The new headteacher of The Bridge School has spoken of her delight and pride after being appointed to the top position.

Hazel Simmons has joined the Ipswich school from her current role as headteacher at Broadlands Hall School, near Haverhill, and will start in September.

Mrs Simmons entered education in her 40s from a business and commerce background and then decided to specialise in special education.
